AEMET has increased the level of weather warnings in parts of the Canary Islands because the heat will continue to increase over the next few hours, particularly in Gran Canaria where it may exceed 37 degrees between today and tomorrow, so they are raised from a yellow to orange weather warning for extreme temperatures.
The rest of the islands remain at yellow with warnings in place for the heat and haze. AEMET says that visibility will be reduced to 3,000 metres due to high concentrations of suspended dust in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, the north of Gran Canaria, and the summits of Gran Canaria and La Palma.
Regarding winds, strong gusts are expected to be up to 75 km/h in different areas of the islands, such as the exposed summits and southern, eastern, and western slopes of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and La Palma, which is why the Ministry of Health issued precautionary advice to citizens yesterday afternoon.
