National Police Officer saves Irish passenger's life at Tenerife South Airport

In a remarkable act of quick thinking, a National Police officer saved the life of an Irish passenger at Tenerife South Airport after he suffered a cardiac arrest on September 8th.

The officer, who was on duty at the airport's departure terminal carrying out document checks, was alerted by airline staff to an emergency. A passenger who had just arrived from Ireland was experiencing a cardiac arrest upon disembarking.

Without hesitation, the officer rushed to the arrivals area, where the passenger was found unconscious and lying on the ground, quickly located the nearest defibrillator, and began administering first aid.

Thanks to the officer’s swift application of CPR and proper use of the defibrillator, the passenger regained consciousness and resumed breathing. Medical staff at the airport immediately took over, continuing the stabilisation of the passenger, who was later transported to hospital, where he was admitted to the ICU in a critical but stable condition, according to a statement by the National Police.

The incident highlights the importance of quick intervention in life-threatening situations and the crucial role of defibrillators and trained responders in emergency scenarios.
