Motorcyclist, 23, seriously injured in fall on Fuerteventura road

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling from his motorcycle on Fuerteventura earlier today, Sunday.

Emergency services received the alert at 11.21am. The incident happened at kilometre 20 of the FV-10, in the municipality of La Oliva in the north of the island.

Paramedics from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) treated the man at the scene. He had multiple traumatic injuries, which were assessed as serious during the initial examination. After being stabilised, he was taken by medicalised ambulance to Fuerteventura General Hospital.

The Guardia Civil was also activated and attended the incident. The circumstances of the fall have not been made public. Officials have not said whether another vehicle was involved, or released an update on the man’s condition after he reached hospital.

The FV-10 runs through La Oliva, a large municipality in northern Fuerteventura. The kilometre marker gives a more precise location than the municipality alone, which covers several towns and rural areas. No specific nearby settlement or junction has been identified in the information released about the incident.
