CD Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel’s condition has worsened overnight after he was injured in a heavy on-pitch collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono in last night’s Segunda Division clash at the Heliodoro stadium.
The incident happened in added time when Owono ran out to challenge for a long ball and collided with De Miguel, bringing the striker crashing to the turf. De Miguel did not get back up and was treated on the pitch by medical staff.
The referee sent Owono off for making forceful contact with a raised leg while challenging for the ball. Medics treated De Miguel for several minutes before he was taken by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. The match was suspended at 2-2 with around two minutes left to play.
The collision was followed by a medical emergency. News reports said De Miguel suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and was resuscitated during emergency treatment. The club initially said he was in intensive care and stable, but in a serious condition.

In an official update issued at 4 o'clock this morning, Tuesday, CD Tenerife said De Miguel’s medical condition had “worsened neurologically”. The club said the update followed a strong blow to the head and that it would provide further information when available.
The reported sequence links the collision to the emergency that followed, and the club has linked the neurological deterioration to the head blow. However, no detailed medical report has been released publicly to explain the precise injury or confirm the full medical cause.
The incident left players from both teams visibly distressed. After De Miguel was taken away, the referee suspended the match. Competition officials will decide whether the remaining minutes are to be played at a later date.
