It has been confirmed by the police, that bones found in a cave on Tuesday in Haría, Lanzarote, are human remains. The discovery was made by employees of the coastal cleanup service in the village of Charco del Palo, and they comprise of parts of a skeleton from the knee to the spine.
They reported their grim discovery to the Local Police who quickly arrived at the scene and immediately alerted the Guardia Civil who, upon initial assessment have indicated that there are no signs of violence on the skeletal remains. The Judicial Police also arrived at the scene to oversee the careful removal of the body.
As of now, the police have not released any additional information regarding the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, or the length of time the remains may have been in the cave, but this discovery has stirred a wave of hope and speculation among local residents, particularly those with missing loved ones.
Among them is Miriam Rodríguez, the mother of Romina Celeste, a young woman tragically murdered by Raúl Díaz in Lanzarote, whose body was never fully recovered, with only a lung being found. Rodríguez has expressed hope that these remains might belong to her daughter, reflecting the deep emotional impact and unresolved questions that linger for many affected by past disappearances on the island.
