Heavy rain and intense wind at the start of the week in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are starting this Monday (December 5^th) with heavy rains on the southwest slopes of the islands in the western province (Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro) this morning, and gusts of very strong wind in the first half of the day in high areas of the more mountainous islands according to the forecast from AEMET.

They are showing cloudy intervals with weak or moderate rains this morning in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with intervals of high clouds this afternoon.

In Gran Canaria, there are cloudy and overcast skies with moderate to heavy rains on the southwest and west slopes during the first half of the day, clearing to cloudy intervals this afternoon with some light showers.

Sea conditions will be rough today with a strong swell of 2 to 3 metres and waves between 3 to 4 metres, so swimming is not advised and people are asked to observe the warning flags on beaches and coves.
