The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued weather warnings until Tuesday evening for extreme temperatures as a heatwave is coming to the islands for the next few days.
There is a yellow weather warning in the western islands, where temperatures are expected to reach 34°C in Tenerife and La Gomera, and a yellow and an orange warning in the eastern islands with temperatures of over 37°C in Gran Canaria and up to 36°C in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
According to AEMET, there will be clear skies tomorrow (Monday) with temperatures up to 40°C in parts of Gran Canaria, as well as light haze inland and in high areas coming in from the east over Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, with a light wind from the northeast.
They are advising people to stay hydrated and avoid physical exercise during the hottest part of the day.
