The Arona City Council has announced the reopening today, Thursday 7th September, of the Farmers Market on the Los Cristianos promenade, in response to demands from both residents and tourists visiting the area.
Dácil León, the Councillor for Economic Promotion of Arona, explained that this market had been requested by both the local community and visitors seeking traditional regional products sold directly by producers. In her role as head of the municipality's Tourism department, León highlighted the market's popularity among tourists visiting the area.
The reopening of this market responds to the growing demand from local consumers looking to access fresh, decorative, and artisanal products of local production. The councillor also noted that the market will be open every other Thursday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, near Plaza de la Pescadora by the Los Cristianos beach and port.
León emphasized the importance of this market in supporting the local economy and said that it has become a distinctive element of the community's traditional commercial structure.
"It has undoubtedly been a great success, of which I am very pleased because, in addition to bringing the richness of our local products to residents and tourists, it represents strong support and added value for agriculture, livestock, and craftsmanship in Arona," she added.
The council have highlighted that they aim to promote progress in new concepts without losing traditional characteristics, bringing quality local products to the population. This is achieved through a diverse offering and direct sales between producers and consumers.
