Canarian restaurant hits back at influencer who asks to eat for free

We all know that social media can have a lot of reach if used in the right way, and that there are people who are genuine influencers on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. They have a large number of followers and use this “supposed” credibility to promote products and brands, get free stuff, and eat out for free in return for saying how wonderful it is.

However, it seems that everyone thinks they are an influencer these days, even those with small followings, or those who are blatantly saying how wonderful and great things are in exchange for freebies.

These are the ones that are annoying businesses and contacting them to ask for freebies, such as a free meal, in return for them posting positive feedback on their profile, and this has hit a nerve with one restaurant owner in the Canary Islands, whose response has gone viral.

As you can see, the “influencer” (not the first) contacted the restaurant to ask to eat for free, and the owner replied as follows:
“Good afternoon, sometimes I think you (influencers) are doing this to me on purpose. If you are Canarian you look back just two generations, you will see millions of stone walls in almost all the towns, you will see families that made their living from fishing, farming, and agriculture, families that emigrated to survive and all that based on the principle of hard work. Get to work for the love of God!”

The restaurant owner’s response is being applauded by other businessmen as they too are sick of these requests, and has gone viral on social media as people are liking and sharing his reply.

It seems that the benefit of real influencers is obvious, but the ones doing things for freebies are obvious too.
