Calima and weather warnings still in place with highs of 30°C this Wednesday

The weather continues to be complicated today (Wednesday), in terms of the intrusion of the African ridge which is leaving the islands with a considerable amount of suspended dust and abnormal temperatures for the time of year, with temperatures up to 30°C and active weather warnings in the Province of Tenerife.

Yellow weather warnings are ongoing for the islands of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro for strong gusts of wind up to 80km/h and adverse sea conditions meaning you should observe red flags and act with extreme caution if going into the sea due to big waves, deep swell, and strong currents.

The haze is still present, being thicker in the east of the archipelago (Lanzarote and Fuerteventura), then getting less dense across the islands from Gran Canaria to the furthest island in the west, El Hierro.

From tomorrow (Thursday), the wind will change to a trade wind driven by the anticyclone of the Azores that little by little will carry away the haze from the islands, and there will be a significant drop in temperatures with sustained northeasterly winds until at least Saturday.
