British woman is found dead at home allegedly murdered by her husband
The Guardia Civil have reported they have found a deceased woman and her injured husband at home in their apartment in Orihuela, believing that he has murdered her in the latest case of gender violence. Apart from releasing information that they are a British couple aged 62 and 69 years old who have lived in Spain since 2017, no more details about their identity have been revealed.
The discovery of the body of the woman in Pilar Bernabé in Valencia, occurred after the Guardia Civil received a call from a neighbour alerting them to screams and noise coming from their apartment. On arrival, agents found the dead woman, and her husband alive in a serious condition with a stab wound in his stomach.
In the police press release, they confirm that all the information is being collected regarding the incident, but everything initially points to the fact that the husband, who is currently being treated in Orihuela Hospital, stabbed his wife to death in their home.
They have also revealed that he was registered in the Viogen database due to a history of sexist violence, but the file had been inactive since 2020 as there were no complaints against him and, therefore, there was no judicial removal measure.
If all the theories are confirmed, this woman will be the eleventh fatality due to sexist violence in Spain so far this year.
