Another heatwave is on its way with temperatures of 40°C next week

AEMET have released updated forecasts for next week which show that the second heatwave of the summer is on its way, which will particularly affect the south of Spain and the Balearic Islands, but the Canary Islands will also experience an increase in temperatures that will exceed 35°C across the archipelago in the middle of the week, and up to 40°C in the eastern islands.

Trade winds will blow In the Canary Islands over the weekend, with cloudy intervals in the north of the islands, and some light rain in areas at higher altitudes.

This will begin to change as of Monday when the heatwave will arrive, which has already led to Cabildos activating protocols and asking the population to take extreme caution to avoid fires.

Mainland Spain:
According to the AEMET, the storms that have been affecting areas such as Valencia will now disappear and atmospheric stability will strengthen while a new front will enter Galicia. Temperatures will rise over the weekend in most parts of the country, as a new episode of heat begins.

AEMET spokesman, José Luis Camacho, has warned that the weekend will see "significant summer heat" that may even be accentuated at the start of next week. He explained that, as of Saturday, atmospheric stability will predominate but a storm in the eastern third of the peninsula and the presence of haze are not ruled out. In Galicia, cloudiness will increase in the afternoon, with rain and showers that will spread to the Cantabrian area throughout the weekend.

Thermometers will rise in the eastern half and in the extreme south of the country and in the Balearic Islands. On Sunday, these temperatures will exceed 35°C in large areas of the center and southern half of Spain, in the Ebro valley, and Mallorca. They will probably reach 40°C in the Guadalquivir Valley.
