Alerts are deactivated as Storm Oscar passes the archipelago

The orange and yellow weather warnings have been lifted in the Canary Islands as Storm Oscar has passed the archipelago and is heading towards Portugal and mainland Spain.

Fortunately, there were no serious incidents reported due to the effects of the wind which reached 93km/h in Las Cañadas del Teide in Tenerife, or the rain with 61.8 litres/m2 recorded in El Pinar (El Hierro).

It was an extremely muggy day yesterday with temperatures of 31 and 32°C registered in the south of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and in fact, eight of the top ten highest temperatures in Spain yesterday were recorded in the Canary Islands.

As for today, Thursday, AEMET say that the day will be marked by clearer skies with cloudy intervals and some showers in Tenerife and the more mountainous islands, although it will be weaker, more scattered, and occasional than in the last two days.

It will also be sunnier with temperatures in the high 20s as the weather starts to return to normal for the time of year by the weekend.
