The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated a yellow weather warning for adverse sea conditions and Force 7 winds in four of the Canary Islands until midnight tonight, Thursday.
Northeast winds of 50 to 61km/h (Force 7) are expected on the northwest and southeast coasts of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma, and El Hierro, where some red flags will be on beaches and bathing areas to warn of big waves, strong currents, and deep swells.
Anyone planning to go to the beach, natural pools, or rocky coves, is asked to act responsibly and observe flags and warnings before they get into the water. So far this year, 36 people in the Canary Islands have died from drowning, the majority of which were holidaymakers.
