Three people were taken to hospital last night, Saturday, after an accident involving several vehicles in Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria.
Emergency services received the alert at 11.18pm informing them that the initial collision involved two cars hitting each other from behind, followed by several more vehicles crashing on Avenida de la Unión Europea.
One man suffered bruising assessed as moderate and was taken to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria for further trearment. A 56-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman had minor bruising and were taken to San Roque Maspalomas hospitals for routine observation.
Local Police regulated traffic and began enquiries. Firefighters secured the vehicles and cleared the road. National Police officers also attended at the start of the emergency response.
San Bartolomé de Tirajana includes popular visitor areas such as Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés, but the emergency report did not specify the exact neighbourhood or junction. The road was cleared after the incident; no ongoing closure was reported.
