Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote are among the most sought after destinations both by national tourists and travellers from the rest of Europe according to searches carried out on the website of online travel agency eDreams, which says that the arrival of vaccines against the coronavirus has triggered the reservations for Easter.
The arrival of the coronavirus vaccine has given travellers the hope of holidaying again in 2021 and, according to the travel agency, searches for trips for Easter grew by 43% between October 2020 and February 2021.
Within the Spanish territory, travellers are desperate to get back in the sun and on beaches, so much so that the most sought after national destinations for Easter this year are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, for some relaxation and tranquility.
In addition, other locations such as Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Madrid, Fuerteventura, Barcelona and Ibiza are included in the list of the top 20 most sought after Spanish destinations to travel to, giving the islands the absolute prominence and following the trend experienced since the beginning of the pandemic.
Despite the uncertainty caused by the current health situation, national tourists also continue to dream of making long-haul trips, as eDreams has also seen an increase in searches for New York, Cancun or Miami later in the year.
As for European travel by Spaniards, compared to 2019, the last Easter in which travel could be enjoyed without the restrictions derived from the pandemic, Paris remains at number 2 in the search, on a list that was topped by London and had Rome in third.
