London City Ballet brings The Firebird to the spectacular Jameos del Agua in lanzarote

London City Ballet is heading to Lanzarote for an evening of dance at Jameos del Agua, bringing its production of The Firebird to one of the island’s most striking venues.

The British company will perform at the Jameos del Agua auditorium on Saturday 20th March 2027 at 8:00pm, as part of the sixth Escena Lanzarote festival.

For residents and holidaymakers, it offers the chance to enjoy a major British ballet company in Lanzarote’s distinctive volcanic surroundings.

Four works in one evening

The programme combines classical ballet and contemporary dance, culminating in choreographer Glen Tetley’s dramatic interpretation of The Firebird, set to Igor Stravinsky’s music.

This gothic retelling follows a young woman who challenges her controlling family and seeks the freedom to follow her own path.

Before the finale, audiences will see Ashley Page’s energetic Mephisto Waltz, Jerome Robbins’ atmospheric Quiet City, and the second movement of Kenneth MacMillan’s Concerto.

The performance lasts approximately 100 minutes, including a 20-minute interval, and is listed for adult audiences.

Part of a season of international performances

London City Ballet’s visit is among the highlights of Escena Lanzarote’s programme, which runs from November 2026 to May 2027, bringing theatre and dance to venues including Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes.

The season opens on 28th November with Verne, a visual theatre production inspired by the imagination of Jules Verne. Combining projections, objects and movement without spoken dialogue, it offers an accessible option for audiences of different nationalities.

Other performers include flamenco dancer Jesús Carmona in December and Rocío Molina in March.

Tickets for London City Ballet’s performance can be accessed through the official Escena Lanzarote website by selecting El pájaro de fuego, the Spanish title of The Firebird.
