Six dental clinics shut across Tenerife, leaving patients with unfinished treatment

Six Vivanta dental clinics across Tenerife have shut, leaving hundreds of patients facing uncertainty over treatment that may be unfinished or already paid for.

The closures took effect on 27th October. The affected locations are Tres de Mayo, El Médano, La Laguna, El Sobradillo, Puerto de la Cruz and Costa Adeje. Notices on the clinic doors say they have suspended activity temporarily, but Vivanta has not confirmed when any of them might reopen.

The company is in insolvency proceedings. A proposed sale of part of its clinic network fell through after the buyer’s offer expired, and the wider business has begun an orderly liquidation process. Vivanta has told patients it hopes to complete a sale process in the coming weeks, but no deal or reopening has been confirmed.

The shutdown has left patients trying to find out how to continue treatment and what will happen to money already paid. One Tenerife patient told local media she had paid €3,800 towards orthodontic treatment and arrived for an appointment to find the clinic closed.

The Official College of Dentists of Santa Cruz de Tenerife advises affected patients to request a copy of their clinical history and gather their treatment plans, contracts, invoices, receipts and finance documents. The clinical history is important if another dentist needs to assess or continue treatment.

Patients whose treatment was paid for through linked consumer credit should contact the finance company in writing and explain that the clinic has stopped providing the service. Whether payments can be paused depends on the circumstances and legal requirements, so patients should keep copies of all correspondence and seek advice from the relevant authorities.

The dental college says patients have a right to request their clinical records, which must generally be provided within 30 days. It also directs patients to its website for guidance on what to do when a clinic stops operating without notice.

The closure affects Vivanta’s wider network across Spain. The company has not announced a confirmed plan for completing Tenerife patients’ outstanding treatment.
