Man kicked in the head during violent street fight in Playa Blanca

A man was kicked repeatedly, including in the head, after being knocked to the ground during a violent fight in broad daylight in Playa Blanca yesterday morning, Sunday.

The confrontation took place near a taxi rank on one of the resort’s main roads, in front of witnesses. Videos recorded at the scene show two men exchanging punches before the fight moved into the road.

Drivers were forced to stop their vehicles as the men continued fighting in the carriageway. One of them eventually fell to the ground, where he was kicked several times.

The man’s condition and the extent of any injuries have not been officially confirmed. Some reports say he was taken for medical treatment, although this has not been independently verified.

The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, and it is not yet known whether any arrests have been made.

Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, is one of Lanzarote’s most popular holiday resorts. The incident took place during the morning, when people and vehicles were using the area.
