Norwegian tourist arrested at airport after trashing hotel room

A Norwegian tourist has been detained by the Guardia Civil at Gran Canaria Airport, as he was about to catch his flight back to his country, for damage caused in the hotel room where he had spent a few days in the municipality of Mogán, in the southwest of the island.

A representative of the hotel where the man had been staying, contacted police and informed them of the damage explaining that the man had left the hotel without checking out, but his girlfriend had called as she felt guilty about the damage, said she would pay for it and told him that they were at the airport heading home.

The Guardia Civil at the main post of Puerto Rico-Mogán took an official complaint (denuncia) and contacted their colleagues at the airport for the man to be apprehended as he had smashed up two televisions, ripped the hairdryer off the wall, and urinated over the bed among other things.

The Gran Canaria Airport security department managed to locate and detain the accused man, who was at the departure gate waiting area, ready for boarding his flight home.

Once located, he was identified and later arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage, being detained at the main police station of Puerto Rico-Mogán until he was made available to the San Bartolomé de Tirajana courts to charged.
