Most self-employed people will pay less social security with the new contribution system that the Government is negotiating with the social partners. This was stated over the weekend by the Secretary of State for Social Security, Israel Arroyo, at a press conference, "The number of freelancers who are going to benefit, is much higher than those who have to pay more," he explained.
In actual fact, Minister José Luis Escrivá showed that under the new reforms, two thirds of self-employed would have had a lower monthly Social Security fee in January than the current one. The new model is based on net returns (once your invoicing, taxes and expenses have been discounted).
