The lifeless body of a 73-year-old man was found at around 5:40pm yesterday afternoon (Monday), on the coast of Taliarte, in the municipality of Telde in Gran Canaria, as reported by the emergency services.
It was spotted floating in the sea by a group of people in the area, who went in to the water and brought it to land.
SUC paramedics arrived shortly after, but were only able to confirm that the man was dead through drowning, and the National Police guarded the body until coroners came to take it away.
A police investigation has been opened to determine the cause of death pending the autopsy results.
