The Canary Islands finishes the week on a high note regarding the epidemiological data, with 294 new cases, 605 people medically discharged, which has reduced the number of active cases, the 7-day incidence rate at less than 100, and a reduction of Covid patients in wards and ICU beds. The reduction of the incidence rates is good news heading towards a UK travel review because if they are looked at separately to Spain, it is a good sign for tourism.
The only negative part of the latest data from the Ministry of Health, is that there were three more deaths recorded, all in Gran Canaria, which takes the total number of fatalities to 899.
Fuerteventura now has the highest IA7 of 115.26 followed by Gran Canaria with 103.56 and then Tenerife with 103.06 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The R rate which shows the contagion level of the virus has now also dropped to 0.78, the lowest it has been for several months as the virus is starting to be contained due to mass vaccination.
This weekend the SCS has two ‘Vacuna-buses’ in Tenerife and Gran Canaria for anyone who has not yet received their first coronavirus vaccine. Both buses will go through different areas of the islands so that people can pop on and get their vaccine without any appointment or hassle.
To receive the vaccine on these buses it is necessary to be a resident of the Canary Islands, present your DNI / NIE / TIE when accessing the vehicle and, in the case of children under 16 years of age, go to these vaccination points accompanied by their mother, father or legal guardian.
