The Guardia Civil have arrested a fugitive in Gran Canaria who was wanted on no fewer than eight separate arrest warrants issued by courts in Las Palmas.
The arrest took place in Vecindario on 13th August, when a patrol carrying out a routine public security check near a supermarket in the Doctoral area stopped a vehicle for identification.
After checking the driver’s details against police databases, officers discovered that he had eight active warrants for his arrest and imprisonment, relating to a range of serious offences.
The wanted man is accused of crimes including fraud, threats, coercion, and offences against property. According to the Guardia Civil, these charges highlight both the danger posed by the individual and his persistent criminal activity.
Authorities emphasised that the arrest demonstrates the importance of routine policing operations, which often lead to the detection and detention of people wanted by the courts. Such actions ensure that offenders cannot indefinitely evade justice and their legal responsibilities.
The detainee has since been placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, which was on duty at the time.
