The Guardia Civil in Las Palmas intercepted an inflatable zodiac-type boat with two engines in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday), loaded with 87 bales of hashish off the coast of Vargas beach on the east coast of Gran Canaria.
When they spotted it, the boat was drifting by itself with no one on board so they guided it to the beach where they were met by other officers who unloaded the drugs, weighed them, and then took them to the main station in Las Palmas.
The Guardia Civil have confirmed that the bales of hashish weigh in excess of 3,000 kilograms, and have opened an investigation to find the source and destination of the drug.
