Two shops raided with nearly 800 counterfeits items in stock

The Guardia Civil has arrested two people who had 775 counterfeit items for sale in two shops in the municipality of Pájara, in Fuerteventura. The seized goods, including handbags, wallets, and football kits, have an estimated market value of over 400,000 euros.

In a press release, the Guardia Civil stated that the owners of the two stores, aged 23 and 60, have been detained on charges of crimes against industrial property.

The raids of the two stores were carried out by the Fiscal and Border Patrol (PAFIF) in Puerto del Rosario as part of their ongoing efforts to combat fraud and piracy related to the alleged sale of counterfeit goods.

To support their actions, the Guardia Civil collaborated with an accredited expert representing the affected brands. These brands have consistently suffered from the illicit trade of counterfeit goods in various locations across the island, resulting in reputational damage and economic losses.

In the last couple of years, these brands have filed complaints regarding similar incidents, leading to subsequent law enforcement interventions. The recent arrests are part of a broader effort to curb the trade in fake products and protect the interests of legitimate businesses in the region.
