The Canary Islands are set for another hot and breezy day on Sunday, with light calima, temperatures reaching 34°C in parts of Gran Canaria, and strong northeast winds affecting several islands.

According to AEMET, skies will be mostly clear or sunny, although there will be intervals of cloud in low-lying northern areas. Light calima is also expected at higher altitudes.

Strong gusts of wind are possible in inland areas of Lanzarote, the south of Jandía in Fuerteventura, and low-lying southeast and northwest areas of the mountainous islands, particularly Gran Canaria and La Gomera.

With the combination of high temperatures, strong winds, low humidity and dry vegetation, the Canary Islands Government continues to warn of a high risk of wildfires, urging residents and visitors to avoid any activity that could spark a fire and to call 112 immediately if they see smoke or flames.

Island-by-island forecast for Sunday 19^th July 2026:

Lanzarote
Mostly sunny with some cloud in the west early and late in the day. Light calima at higher levels. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although 30°C is possible in the southeast. Moderate northeast trade winds will become strong in inland areas of the southern half of the island, where isolated very strong gusts are possible during the afternoon.
General temperature range: Low of 23°C and high of 29°C.

Fuerteventura
Mostly sunny with some cloud in the west early and late in the day. Light calima at higher levels. Temperatures will change little, with 30°C or more expected across the southern half of the island. Moderate northeast winds will be locally strong in southern Jandía, with the possibility of very strong gusts.
General temperature range: Low of 23°C and high of 29°C.

Gran Canaria
Mostly sunny with some cloud affecting low-lying northern areas, especially early and late in the day. Light calima at higher altitudes. Temperatures will remain similar, although inland areas in the south and west could see highs of 32°C to 34°C. Moderate northeast winds will become strong in low-lying southeast and northwest areas, with occasional very strong gusts, especially later in the day. Light sea breezes are expected along the southwest coast.
General temperature range: Low of 23°C and high of 30°C.

Tenerife
Mostly sunny with intervals of cloud along the northern coast, particularly during the morning and evening. Light calima at higher levels. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with a slight increase inland in the south and west. Temperatures of 30°C are possible on the south coast and in southern parts of the metropolitan area. Moderate northeast trade winds will be strong in low-lying southeast areas and the far northwest, with occasional very strong gusts. Sea breezes will prevail on the west coast.
General temperature range: Low of 24°C and high of 30°C.
