A judge from the Court of Instruction No. 7 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has ordered the provisional detention, without bail, of two National Police officers and two other civilians involved in an investigation into organised crime and drug trafficking. A fifth person, also under investigation, has been released on provisional bail.
The arrests, part of an operation revealed by Canarias7 newspaper, were executed by specialised units of the National Police, including Internal Affairs. The two police officers, from the Provincial Brigade of Citizen Security in Gran Canaria, along with three civilians, were apprehended for their suspected participation in organised crime.
During raids conducted on Tuesday, investigators seized cocaine, weapons, and large sums of money. The accused are facing serious charges, including membership of a criminal organisation, extortion, threats, breach of confidentiality, and drug trafficking.
The operation also led to the confiscation of numerous mobile phones, vehicles, and other items potentially linked to narcotics activity, intensifying the ongoing investigation into the alleged criminal network.
The investigation is being conducted under a secrecy order due to the importance and scope of the operation, and the fact that National Police officers are involved.
