The National Police have arrested three more international fugitives in recent weeks in Tenerife, bringing the total number of internationally wanted criminals apprehended in the province so far this year to 16.

In addition, authorities have processed nine extraditions in 2025, acting on requests received via Spain’s National Court in Madrid.

Tracking down international fugitives is a highly complex task, often requiring close collaboration with foreign police forces and judicial authorities. Among the most recent arrests was a woman wanted by German authorities on serious charges of blackmail and extortion.

Subject to a European Arrest Warrant, she faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Despite taking considerable measures to avoid capture, including creating the impression she was living outside Spain, she was tracked down and arrested in the south of Tenerife.

In separate operations, police also detained two individuals wanted by Italy and Venezuela for drug trafficking offences. One man, sought by Italian authorities on suspicion of cocaine trafficking under a European Arrest Warrant, has already been remanded in custody pending extradition proceedings.

The third case involved a woman allegedly linked to cocaine distribution networks operating between Colombia and Venezuela. Considered dangerous, she has now been placed in deportation proceedings due to her irregular immigration status in Spain.

The National Police stressed their continued commitment to locating and arresting fugitives who attempt to use the Canary Islands as a hideout, underlining that close international cooperation remains essential to ensuring such criminals are brought to justice.
