The Guardia Civil asks for help to locate missing British tourist

The Guardia Civil has requested the public’s help to locate the whereabouts of Gary James Watson, a 53-year-old British tourist from Scotland, who was last seen on March 16th in a bar in Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote.

The missing Scot came to Lanzarote to celebrate St Patricks Day, and after landing on the island, checked into his hotel at around 5pm and then posted a photo of himself by the pool on Facebook and messaged his mum, before heading straight out to a well-known Celtic bar on the Puerto Del Carmen Strip.

Gary hasn't been seen since, leaving Bar 67 at around 11.30pm that night, Thursday March 16th. His family, from Renfrew just outside Glasgow, alerted Jet2 on Tuesday March 21st, after becoming concerned that they hadn't heard from him for several days, and fear the worst as he suffers from epilepsy and Type 2 diabetes.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a green and white-striped Celtic football shirt, white shorts, and white trainers, is 1.60 metres tall (5ft 3”), has a thin complexion, short black and gray hair, and walks with a slight limp.

There is video footage on social media of Gary with six people in Bar 67 on March 16th and they have all spoken with the police, but they have no leads to where he disappeared to.

The Guardia Civil request that anyone who has any information on his whereabouts contact them by telephone at 062 or by emailing: [email protected]
