Siam Mall in Costa Adeje has now resumed normal operations after a car fire in its underground car park led to the complete evacuation of the shopping centre yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Emergency services have confirmed that no one was injured and the fire did not spread to other vehicles.
According to information provided to EFE by the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident occurred around 5:00pm when a parked car caught fire in the lower-level parking area of the popular shopping centre in the south of Tenerife.
As a precautionary measure, the centre’s private security staff immediately ordered a full evacuation of all shoppers and employees from the building.
Firefighters quickly deployed two teams to the scene. They successfully extinguished the blaze and confirmed that the fire was contained to the single affected vehicle, preventing it from spreading to any other cars or areas of the shopping centre.
Additionally, the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) dispatched two ambulances as a preventative measure, although paramedics did not need to provide any assistance as there were no injuries reported.
Once the fire had been fully extinguished and the underground area ventilated, authorities gave the all-clear for Siam Mall to reopen. The shopping centre has since returned to normal activity, with all shops and facilities operating as usual.
Visitors are reminded that safety procedures are in place at all major commercial centres across Tenerife to ensure rapid response to incidents like this, helping to maintain a safe environment for both tourists and residents.
