Schools in Tenerife and La Palma will face disruptions this week as authorities implement precautionary measures due to ongoing severe weather across the Canary Islands.

The measures mirror those already introduced in Gran Canaria and are designed to minimise risk during the current period of adverse weather conditions affecting the archipelago, following guidance from the regional emergency services.

Tuesday: Afternoon and Evening Classes Cancelled

This afternoon, Tuesday, 24th March, all afternoon and evening sessions have been suspended in schools and educational centres in Tenerife and La Palma.

Wednesday: Full Closure of Schools

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 25th March, all schools and education centres are closed and in-person classes will be suspended entirely. Where possible, lessons will continue online using remote learning systems.

Safety First Approach

Education officials have urged students, parents, and staff to stay updated through official government channels and to follow all safety advice issued by emergency services.

The decision comes as Storm Therese continues to impact the Canary Islands, bringing heavy rain and potentially hazardous conditions across multiple islands.
