Russian woman arrested for involvement in theft of luxury vehicles

A 31-year-old Russian woman has been arrested for her involvement in a criminal organization that stole high-end vehicles in Italy and distributed them to various Eastern European countries before it was discovered that she was avoiding a court order by hiding in Gran Canaria.

The Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Las Palmas followed leads that suggested the woman was on the island, after being made aware of a European Arrest Order issued by an Italian Court, whose police investigations traced her to the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

After focusing on this information, surveillance teams were deployed to the area and agents discovered that a woman matching her description was staying in an apartment in the town, so applied for a search warrant of the property she was in.

With the correct papers in place, the police were able to detain the woman and found her paperwork confirming that she is the person wanted for the theft and distribution of stolen luxury cars, who had invaded police in Rome with several false addresses before fleeing to Gran Canaria.

After officially identifying and arresting her, the Guardia Civil informed the National High Court and handed her over to the judicial authorities who have her in custody awaiting deportation to Italy where she will face trial.
