Rain and wind trigger yellow alerts for three Canary Islands on Thursday and Friday

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued yellow weather warnings last night for the Canary Islands, warning about anticipated rain and coastal phenomena set to impact three islands today and tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.

The warnings they issued are as follows:

Thursday

El Hierro:

The entire island is under a yellow rain alert from 11:00am this morning until 6:00pm this afternoon. Forecasts predict heavy rainfall, with accumulations of up to 15 millimetres per hour, particularly on the north and west slopes.

La Palma:

A yellow warning for rain is also in effect from 11:00am to 6:00pm today, primarily affecting the island's summits, east, and west regions. Anticipated precipitation accumulations are up to 15 millimetres per hour, also on the north and west slopes.

Friday

Tenerife:

The island will be under a yellow alert for adverse coastal phenomena from am3:00 to 12:00pm tomorrow. The forecast shows Force 7 winds from the north to northwest ranging from 50 to 61 km/h offshore to the southwest of the island.

There is a possibility of extensions to these alerts, both in terms of duration and geographical coverage, affecting additional islands.

Last night, Wednesday, the Canarian government also ended the wind alert that was in place for Tenerife and La Palma.
