The Cabildo in Gran Canaria and the Las Palmas City Council have established protection measures for citizens with the activation of the Municipal Emergency Plan due to the weather warnings for Adverse Meteorological Phenomenon (FMA) due to strong winds and intense haze.
To guarantee safety they have suspended all municipal sports, cultural, and leisure activities, fairs and street commerce activities, and events organized by the Local Authorities. The suspension also affects any activities that could be held in spaces owned by the municipality in the open air, on beaches, and on the coastline.
Likewise, the closure to the public and the sealing of fenced parks, playgrounds, and urban exercise equipment for public use has also been established, as has the closure of campsites and recreational areas until further notice.
The municipal government asks citizens to take extreme precautions until the end of the alert to avoid all kinds of dangers, and everyone is recommended to pay attention to weather forecasts, as well as to the recommendations from the authorities.
