A man was injured in a fight on Saturday night in a bar in Calle Mar Blanco in the Playa Meloneras area of Gran Canaria when he was stabbed in the neck. According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) the incident took place at approximately 2am as they received several calls informing them that a fight had broken out and one man needed medical attention.
They immediately activated the necessary emergency resources and sent them to the bar in question located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
On arrival, SUC medical staff found one man bleeding from a stab wound to his neck, which although serious it fortunately hadn’t punctured a main vein so they were able to stem the bleeding.
After this, they transferred him, firstly, to the San Roque University Hospital in Maspalomas to stabilize him and, later, to the Insular University Hospital in Las Palmas for further treatment.
The National Police have taken charge of the investigation of the incident to find out how the fight started and who stabbed him as at the moment no-one has been detained.
