'Jack Ryan' will be filming for six weeks in Gran Canaria and Tenerife

The fourth season of the Amazon Prime series 'Jack Ryan', which will be broadcast next spring, is being shot over six weeks in Tenerife and Gran Canaria starting next month, according to sources close to the project.

As always, in this type of international filming, the confidentiality clauses and the secrecy imposed from the US determine each of the steps, but the same sources have confirmed that pre-production is going at a very good pace, and that the Canarian company Seven Islands Film will be the local link.

They will provide the services that are required from the islands, and filming will take place in several locations on the two islands between March and May 2022.

As usual, this production lands on the islands due to tax incentives for audiovisual companies thanks to the ZEC, as producers with tax residence in the Canary Islands, and who are in charge of executing a foreign production (production service companies), benefit from a deduction of 50% of the first million of eligible expenses, and 45% of the rest of eligible expenses spent in the Canarian territory.

“To qualify for the exemptions, eligible expenses incurred in the Canary Islands must reach at least one million euros, except in the case of animation, which is at 200,000 euros," explains the Gran Canaria Film Commission on its web page.

The script and filming of this fourth season is already underway and about to start before Amazon has broadcast the episodes of the third series, which will be released this year.

What is clear though, is that American actor John Krasinski will continue in the role of the intrepid Jack Ryan. This Bostonian, born in Newton in 1977 and married to fellow actress Emily Blunt, began to gain popularity thanks to his role as Jim Halpert in the American version of 'The Office', one of the most successful programs on NBC.

Another key character in the series is that of James Greer, played by Wendell Pierce. He was a key role in five seasons of 'The Wire', in which he played agent Bunk Moreland.

The character of Mike November is also maintained, played by Michael Kelly (from 'House of Cards'). Amazon has confirmed the presence of Zuleikha Robinson, Okieriete Onaodowan, and Michael Peña in this fourth season in which Jack Ryan is in hiding.
