Jennifer Lopez posted a video last night of her and her young co-star, Lucy Paez, of The Mother, which is the Netflix blockbuster that she has been filming in Gran Canaria saying that “it’s a wrap” as they have now recorded their last scenes on the island.
In the film, J-Lo plays the mother of Paez's character, who is an ex-assassin who comes out of retirement to save her daughter who has been kidnapped.
Filming started in January but was interrupted by the sixth wave of Covid and an outbreak among the crew, so Lopez left the island for other commitments until it could be resumed.
It restarted at the beginning of March with scenes being shot all over the island, including Las Palmas, Arucas, Agüimes, El Salobre, and the Aeroclub, and photos going viral because her partner Ben Affleck flew to the island to spend some time with her in between filming.
The couple were able to stroll around the capital freely without an entourage of bodyguards or umbrellas preventing photos, as locals were respectful of the couple and left them alone to enjoy the island, which they have both thanked everyone for online saying it is a refreshing change.
Lopez is also a co-producer of the movie, in which she shares the leading role, with Joseph Fiennes and Gael García Bernal, among others, who also travelled to Gran Canaria to film. The scenes shot here will be seen as Cuba in the movie which is due for release later this year.
