The National Police have arrested a 32-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of Albanian nationality, at Gran Canaria Airport when trying to fly to the UK with their 4-year-old daughter using fake Croatian passports.
According to the police press release, the incident took place last week (August 27th) when the couple tried to board a flight to Gatwick with their daughter, and one of the border control agents noticed defects on the passports, particularly with the security stamps and watermarks which looked like they had been tampered with.
Because of this, border control agents took them to the National Police station at the airport where, after a series of closer checks, the existence of different signs of forgery was confirmed.
At this point, the couple agreed to show the police their real passports and afterwards were arrested for falsifying documents and were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
