The state weather agency, AEMET, has forecast largely stable temperatures across the Canary Islands this Friday, with slightly cooler night-time lows in some areas and moderate northerly winds across the archipelago.

Stronger gusts are expected on exposed coasts, particularly the east and west slopes of the mountainous islands, as well as inland and southeastern parts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Cloudier in the north, clearer in the south

Northern areas of Tenerife and Gran Canaria will see mostly cloudy skies, with the chance of light drizzle, especially during the early hours, whereas the south will be clearer. Meanwhile, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are expected to have cloudier intervals in the north and west, with brighter, clearer conditions elsewhere.

Rougher seas and unsettled conditions offshore

At sea, conditions will be noticeably rougher. Northeasterly winds of force 4 to 5 are forecast in the western islands, with northerly winds of similar strength in the eastern islands.

Expect moderate to rough seas, with a northerly swell of between one and two metres. There is also a risk of occasional showers and isolated storms offshore.

Island-by-island outlook for Friday 27th March 2026:

Tenerife
Cloud and patchy drizzle in the north during the morning, with sunny spells developing later. The south will remain mostly clear, though a brief light shower is possible early on. Cooler overnight in higher areas, with a risk of light frost around Mount Teide.
General temperatures: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.

Gran Canaria
Cloudier in the north with possible early drizzle, turning brighter later. Clearer skies in the south. Winds moderate from the north, with stronger gusts in exposed coastal areas.
General temperatures: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.

Lanzarote
Cloudy intervals in the north and west, clearing somewhat in the afternoon. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate northerly winds, with stronger gusts possible on eastern coasts later in the day.
General temperatures: Low of 15°C and high of 22°C.

Fuerteventura
Similar conditions, with cloud in the north and west and sunshine elsewhere. Temperatures steady, with slightly warmer daytime highs. Stronger winds expected inland and in Jandía.
General temperatures: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.

Overall, while temperatures remain pleasant, visitors and residents should be prepared for breezy conditions and choppier seas, particularly if planning coastal or boat activities.

Please note:
It’s important to remember that the Canary Islands are full of micro-climates due to the mountainous areas. This means all forecasts and temperatures are general for the island, and not location specific. It will obviously be colder at altitude up mountains, and warmer in sheltered coastal areas, but can be very different just a few kilometres away.
