Two employees of the Hotel Vulcano in Tenerife, Patricia and Andrea, have been leading a heartfelt social initiative since 2021 through their handmade brooches project, "Broches Solidarios."
The project donates 100% of its proceeds to charitable causes, embodying a spirit of generosity and community support.
The initiative began in December 2021 when Patricia, inspired by the annual Red Cross Christmas campaign to donate toys, sought a creative way to contribute. Without children or nieces and nephews of her own, she decided to craft festive brooches by hand at home, with the aim of selling them to raise funds to buy toys for children in need.
In 2022, Andrea joined Patricia, bringing her own creative skills to the project. Together, they expanded their efforts, continuing to produce handmade brooches with a charitable purpose. Over the years, they have supported various causes, including the Red Cross, the paediatric ward at La Candelaria Hospital, and the 4A animal shelter in Arico.
Today, "Broches Solidarios" offers three types of brooches: traditional pins for clothing, Christmas tree decorations, and fridge magnets. Those interested in supporting the project can connect via social media at @brochessolidarioss.
This inspiring initiative showcases how a healthy and supportive work environment can nurture meaningful projects. On this International Women's Day (8th March), it is a fitting moment to celebrate the strength, creativity, and generosity of Patricia and Andrea, two strong and genuine women making a tangible difference in their community.
