A man’s body has been discovered in a secluded ravine, known for its steep drops and treacherous terrain, in Gran Canaria, sparking a major police investigation into the cause of death, as reported by Teldeactualidad.
The grim find was made around 9:00pm last night (Wednesday) in Barranco de Los Ríos, a rugged stretch of the Barranco Real de Telde. Emergency crews rushed to the scene after the body was spotted floating in a pool of water deep within the ravine.
The deceased, believed to be a man aged between 50 and 60 years old, is thought to have died several days before being found. It remains unclear how long he had been there or how he died.
Firefighters joined officers from the National Police to recover the body, and the Local Police were also called in to manage traffic while the area was sealed off for forensic examination.
Detectives are now working to establish the man’s identity and determine the cause of death. Police sources have not ruled out any lines of inquiry, although there is currently no evidence of foul play.
The ravine, like many in the Canary Islands, is notoriously dangerous, with slippery rocks, sharp inclines, and unpredictable weather posing serious risks to anyone venturing in.
The body has now been taken for a post-mortem examination as the investigation continues.
