Police in Gran Canaria witnessed a bizarre incident yesterday after being called to a traffic accident involving two vans in the municipality of Marzagán.
Fortunately, the collision only resulted in material damage and minor injuries to some of the people involved. The emergency services were quick to respond to alerts, with two ambulances dispatched to provide on-site care to those with injuries.
As is customary in such incidents, the Local Police conducted breathalyser tests on the drivers involved. One of these tests returned a positive result for alcohol consumption, adding a serious note to the proceedings.
However, what truly set this incident apart was the unexpected discovery in the back of one of the vans. Among the usual cargo, officers found a household armchair in the back, but even more astonishing there was sitting in it, completely unsecured and without any safety measures.
This unusual, and illegal, seating arrangement contributed to the injuries sustained by one of the occupants, according to the Local Police reports.
The peculiar nature of this incident has sparked an ongoing investigation as the police are conducting further inquiries to understand the full context and implications of the situation. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the police are gathering more evidence to determine any additional violations or safety breaches.
