The Arona City Council has expressed its regret and strong condemnation following the indiscriminate burning of vehicles in the Los Cristianos area over the weekend, and have called for public cooperation to assist in the police investigation.
Mayor Fátima Lemes, visited the scene of the arson with the Local Police Councillor Héctor Reyes, and the sub-commissioner of the municipal police, to assess the damage.
They reaffirmed their commitment to identifying the perpetrator and emphasised that the ongoing investigation, led by the National Police, is being handled with the necessary caution.
The Local Police of Arona are providing full support, and additional reinforcements and surveillance will be deployed in the affected areas.
The mayor also confirmed that the necessary resources and departments had already been mobilised to restore the damage to public spaces, clean the area, and address the damage to gardens and trees.
The City Council has reiterated its condemnation of all forms of violence and vandalism and is urging residents to provide any relevant information anonymously and confidentially to aid in resolving the case and identifying the arsonist.
