The heatwave that has been plaguing the archipelago for over ten days now seems to be coming to an end, however, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), in its forecasts for the next week, warns that heavy rain is on its way to the Canary Islands, especially in the western province of Tenerife.
Meteorological models predict precipitation in the northern parts of the more mountainous islands, i.e., Tenerife and La Palma, furthermore, the long-term forecast indicates that the last week of the month, from Monday 23rd October, may be wetter.
Here is the latest day-by-day forecast for the islands:
MONDAY, OCTOBER 16TH:
Overcast with cloudy skies in most areas with a high chance of rain which will be more intense in the western islands. Temperatures will drop significantly and westerly winds will prevail.
TUESDAY TO FRIDAY (17th to 20th):
According to AEMET, the Canary Islands will also be affected by the influence of an Atlantic low entering the archipelago, resulting in continued cloudy intervals and rain, especially in the more mountainous islands. Temperatures will drop again on Tuesday and Wednesday, returning to typical values for this time of the year, with predominantly light westerly winds.
