A wet and windy bank holiday Monday is forecast in the western Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has announced that from the early hours of tomorrow (Monday), wind and rain are expected in the Canary Islands, especially in the western islands of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro, whereas the eastern islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura are forecast to be clearer and sunnier.

A cold front is moving in from the west of the archipelago, which will particularly affect La Palma, the western slope of La Gomera, and west of Tenerife, where local showers are forecast throughout the day.

Maximum temperatures will be the same as they are now, except in La Palma where there will be cooler weather compared to previous days, but minimum temperatures will drop in the eastern islands.

The wind will be weak to moderate from the southwest, being more intense in the afternoon, especially in the mountainous areas of the Canary Islands. In the central peaks of Tenerife and La Palma, very strong windy intervals are expected with gusts that could exceed 80 or 90 kilometres per hour.

LANZAROTE:
General: A clear and sunny day.
Humidity: 53%
Precipitation: 4% - No rain forecast today.
Wind: Light, 16km/h from the northwest.
Temperatures: Maximum 23°C and minimum 17°C.

FUERTEVENTURA:
General: A clear and sunny day.
Humidity: 65%
Precipitation: 11% - Possible early morning showers.
Wind: Moderate, 23km/h from the south.
Temperatures: Maximum 23°C and minimum 16°C.
