An unusual incident took place at Gran Canaria airport yesterday (Wednesday) when a flight from Tenerife North had its landing aborted due to the presence of a loose dog on the runway.
Air Traffic Control immediately informed the pilot about the dog and measures to guarantee the safety of the passengers and crew on board the aircraft were initiated.
All flight traffic, departures and arrivals, at Gran Canaria Airport were affected and all aircraft were instructed to wait until further notice.
Fortunately, just a few minutes later, Air Traffic Controllers reported that the dog had been located and captured, allowing operations at the airport to resume without too many delays, and the flight from Tenerife was able to land safely.
