A 41-year-old man has been arrested by the National Police after trying to sexually assault his own mother while she was asleep in her house in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning when the man broke into his mother’s home through a window and tried to rape her.
Although she had taken sleeping pills, the woman realised that someone had entered her home, but at first, didn’t know who it was. It was only when her son got on top of her, covered her mouth, and tried to separate her legs, while telling her not to scream, that she realised it was her son, who is a known drug addict and has a police record.
According to the official police report, the man kept repeating "I'm going to do everything to you", however, at one point she managed to take his hands off her mouth and began to scream for help, which scared him and he fled from the house.
Hearing the scream for help, neighbours alerted the police and came to the woman's aid and stayed with her until they arrived. Once at the property, they verified that the man had left, and based on information and physical characteristics provided by the mother, they were able to locate and confirm it was him who had attacked her.
Due to this they immediately arrested him for attempted sexual assault, and he is currently in the custody of the National Police in Las Palmas waiting to go to court.
