24-year-old paraglider rescued from rocky mountainside in southern Tenerife

A 24-year-old paraglider was injured on Saturday after suffering a fall near Roque del Conde, in the municipality of Adeje, in the south of Tenerife. The accident occurred at 3:10pm, prompting the deployment of a rescue helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES).

The Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting that the paraglider required urgent medical assistance and immediately activated the necessary resources, including a GES rescue helicopter, an SUC ambulance, and the Fire Brigade.

Rescue specialists reached the injured man by helicopter, provided initial medical assistance at the scene, and immobilised him before airlifting him to the helipad at the Adeje Fire Station.

Once on the ground, SUC medical personnel assessed the patient, who had suffered a hip injury, and took him via ambulance to the Hospiten Sur Hospital where he was admitted for further treatment.

Firefighters ensured the safe landing and take/off of the helicopter at the helipad during the operation.
