The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has reported that they only detected three earthquakes in La Palma between midnight last night and 6.30am this morning, and none of them were felt by the public. Likewise, the latest report from the National Security Directorate (DSN) says that the number of intermediate earthquakes remains low, being registered at depths greater than 20 kilometres.
Pevolca has reported that the high values of gases being emitted by the volcano continue to hinder the access of residents and emergency personnel to the evacuated area, south of the lava flows. They have confirmed that intensification in the signal of the volcanic tremor, accompanied by the emission of ash and rocks has ceased; although permanent monitoring continues.
Subsequently, the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies lifted the measure at 1:00pm yesterday that confined the 33,000 residents in the municipalities of Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and Tazacorte, due to bad air quality. They have said that the current situation represents a favourable scenario for connections by air.
According to the report, the lava continues to flow mainly from the west of the main cone through a volcanic tube, which has several branches, from which two streams have broken free and are moving west over previous streams.
